4th Meeting in Cyprus Day5

On this day we visited the Cyprus Institute, a technological research institution. The photovoltaic section, the engineering department and the supercomputer rooms were visited. Later during the day, we visited PROTEAS Solar Research Facility, owned by The Cyprus Institute, which is located at the city of Limassol.

4th Meeting in Cyprus Day4

Activity 4 took place in the Computer Labs of the school and it involved a presentation about the conclusions and evaluations of students. After students tested their models and collected data from their visits, they presented their conclusions to the rest of the teams. The closing ceremony took place at the school’s Auditorium, where students and teachers were given certificates of participation.

Activity 3 was performed in the Physics Labs of the school, where students would create a weather scenario using blow dryer and a lamp at specific positions. The winner team was the one with the greatest average power outputs. We visited the University of Cyprus and had a tour at the PV Technology Laboratory of the University and the Photovoltaic Park, made up of 1,645 solar panels On the same day, we travelled to the city of Larnaca, where we visited the Wincono Wind Farm, made up of 21 turbines converting wind into energy to generate electricity.

The day started with Activity 2, which took place in a Physics Lab of the school. For this activity, the students worked in teams in order to build their own wind and solar farms, using the materials provided by the teachers. During the afternoon, we visited "Archimedes" Science Centre and Interactive Museum, in the city of Limassol, where students had the opportunity to experiment with games and ancient machines based on European Standards.

During the first day, the opening ceremony took place in the school’s auditorium. Later we performed some ice breaking activities, so that the students and teachers would feel more comfortable with each other. The students were also separated in teams, so that each team had members of every country. Activity 1 took place in the Computer Labs of our school, which involved working in a virtual laboratory to investigate the different factors that affect the power outputs of a wind farm. Later during the day, everyone had a tour in the old city of Nicosia, sightseeing and walking around the city.

The following are general documents concerning the Learning/Activities Students Meeting in Cyprus from 7/11/16 to 11/11/16. The subject of our activities was "Renewable Energy Sources". Invitations sent out to partners:     Programme for the week 7/11/16-11/11/16: Activity Programme and Vocabulary used in activities:   Certificate of Attendance for each student/partner participant: A survey questionnaire was handed out to students before the 1st activity, to establish expectations. Another questionnaire was handed out to students after the end of all activities, to establish whether their expectations have been met, as well as general feedback. The responses received were generally very positive and showed that students' expectations were met.  

Coming back from Łódź

It is our first day at school since we have return from  Łódź, and we still have in our minds how special it has been, and how many things we have learnt about water.  If you click here you can access to the photos published at Calasanz Web.

On the last day, our students held their presentations about their countries, and the water situation in there. We also saw the presentations from Polish students, which were their long-term projects for their Science Day. Do you remember this song? And the Goodbye Ceremony :(

3rd Meeting in Poland Day4

Day 4 was away, in a city of Wrocław, where we visited Hydropolis- a centre of knowledge about water.  The other half of the day took us to the Oceanarium and the Old Town of Wrocław.
